A Message from Dr. David FosterThis three-year pilot program is designed to demonstrate the capacity of the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service (OCES) to aid communities in addressing contemporary issues. We plan to award up to 10 grants for county or community level pilot projects. Grants will be awarded in two categories. Initial Leadership Grants are designed for those communities and counties in which little or no opportunity for leadership training exists or in which few trained community leaders are active. Grants will be awarded in amounts up to $10,000 for one year with the expectation that those receiving the training will seek continued funding under the leadership grant category. Leadership Grants are designed for those communities and counties that now benefit from past leadership programs or have a number of well-informed, capable community leaders ready to work on a specific project. Pilot projects in this category should range from $20,000 - $100,000 for the three year period, with no more than 90% of the total budget funded from the pilot project grant. I encourage you to review the Request for Proposal (RFP) and consider how it might fit in your county. Completed proposals are due by June 30, 2002. Thanks for all you do to strengthen our organization. We look forward to working with a number of you on this pilot effort. David E. Foster | |
